Interazioni sociali, razionalità e felicità

Negli ultimi anni, una parte sempre più rilevante della letteratura economica ha adottato una nozione ampia di benessere, corrispondente a quello che nella terminologia anglosassone viene chiamato well-being, in contrapposizione al tradizionale concetto di welfare. Nella ricerca del benessere, un ruolo fondamentale va attribuito alla soddisfazione dei bisogni relazionali, soprattutto nelle economie avanzate, dove la soddisfazione dei bisogni materiali ha ormai raggiunto livelli straordinari.
Questa sezione della reading list è dedicata al ruolo delle relazioni sociali (e del capitale sociale) nel miglioramento della qualità della vita e nella determinazione del comportamento individuale. Le letture considerate affrontano temi come l'elaborazione di un nuovo paradigma di razionalità (che tenga conto delle esigenze "sociali" degli agenti), l'interpretazione della dimensione relazionale del comportamento economico, l'analisi delle determinanti ambientali e sociali del benessere soggettivo. Studi empirici su questi argomenti sono contenuti nella sezione dedicata agli Studi empirici su capitale sociale e benessere.
