Studi empirici su capitale sociale e benessere sociale

Questa sezione raccoglie studi empirici sulle determinanti relazionali e sociali del benessere. Particolare attenzione è dedicata al ruolo delle relazioni interpersonali, alla sicurezza garantita dall'esistenza di sistemi efficienti di protezione sociale e al buon funzionamento delle istituzioni e dei servizi pubblici. L'evidenza empirica sembra mostrare che il comportamento degli agenti - anche nelle sue dimensioni più tipicamente economiche, come il consumo e il risparmio - non può essere interamente spiegato dalla teoria della scelta razionale adottata dall'ortodossia economica neoclassica. Gli studi empirici sulla qualità della vita mostrano che, nelle economie di mercato, la felicità delle persone è sempre più spesso legata a fattori di natura sociale e relazionale, oltre che al reddito, alla ricchezza materiale e al consumo privato.
