Cooperation or Conflict? Economics of natural resources and food

This conference will further economic research on cooperation and conflict at individual, group and international levels. We invite theoretical and empirical contributions from institutional, behavioral, experimental and mainstream economics. The conference will take place in Wageningen, The Netherlands, from May 29 to May 31, 2013.

Specific objectives

• Bring together economists interested in research on cooperation and conflict at multiple levels
• Generate insight in determinants of conflict and cooperation from a variety of economic perspectives
• Apply economic theory on conflict and cooperation to empirical cases
• Improve our understanding of how institutions affect conflict and cooperation

Topics

We invite submissions on the following and related topics:
• Management of common pool resources
• Public-private cooperation
• Cooperation and conflict regarding land use, land grabs and border conflicts
• Intergenerational conflicts over scarce natural resources
• Learning from conflicts leading to cooperation
• Institutional and behavioral theories on cooperation and conflict
• Methodological advances (e.g. game-theoretic, experimental, or econometric) on conflict and cooperation

Call for papers and posters

The conference program includes various contributed paper sessions and dedicated poster sessions. Participants who would like to present a paper or a poster are requested to submit an extended abstract before December 1, 2012.
Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by January 31, 2013.
