Description of the Symposium

Even though after more of twenty years since transitions to democracy, most of countries in Latin America are considered stable electoral regimes, the lack of trust and institutional accountability among citizens still persists. Hence, this symposium aims to discuss how cultural factors, as political socialization, trust and social capital affect the quality of democracy not just in Latin America, but as in comparative cases with other realities, as Europe and Africa.
