Voice of the People

How often do you get the opportunity to ask a question to today's worldpopulation? The Voice of the People Survey can make your dream come true. The clear need amongst multinationals, global institutions and NGOs for extensive yet affordable international public (opinion) research has lead Gallup International to offer The Voice of the People as a cost-efficient research solution. Each year Gallup International conducts this worldwide survey and interviews ten thousands of around the world. Started for the first time in 2002 this dedicated survey covers approximately 50 countries divided in 7 regions, and offers clients a way of obtaining reliable synchronised results from citizens across the globe or certain regions at a heavily discounted and so, more affordable price.

The Voice of the People will help you to understand opinion of today's worldpopulation on issues like the environment, terrorism, global issues, governance and democracy. For more detailed information on the related topics, please see the attached VoP 2002 questionnaire as an example.

Next year clients can participate by buying one or more - exclusive - questions on any topic of interest. For example:

  • Brand awareness
  • Brand or company image
  • Political climate/ human rights
  • Health issues (nutrition, ageing, health services, etc.)
  • Environment
  • Safety
  • Education
  • Culture (sports, leisure, etc.)
  • Etc.

A brief technical description

One of the main strengths of Gallup International is our expertise in conducting such large international surveys. Combining the need for internationally comparable data whilst dealing with conditions that vary widely from country to country demands an understanding of the technical and practical issues involved. Our long experience in such research leads us to accept that no single methodology is appropriate for all countries, yet we continue to strive as much as possible to achieve strict comparability of results.

Every year the survey will be conducted in approximately 50 countries, with a minimal sample size of 500 per country. Wherever possible, within each country a nationally representative sample n=500 adults, male and female, aged 18+ will be used. In some emergent countries, where such research conditions are not possible, there may be stated variations to this (eg urban areas only). Similarly, in the developed world interviews will be conducted by telephone whilst in emergent and under-developed countries, face to face interviews will be conducted.

Results are available for each country. You can see what the total global population thinks, or focus on a particular region for example Africa, Latin America, Western Europe, etc. Common demographic information will also be collected so that comparable analysis across countries can be made.
