Call for papers and abstracts

Papers or Abstracts can be submitted from June 17 to September 20. The scientific committee makes decisions and notifies speakers before September 30, 2008. Participants are requested to register before November 1 and are encouraged to make hotel reservations early. There is no conference fee. Lunch and Coffee is provided for registered participants by courtesy of the Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen.

Format of the seminar

The seminar is open only to active participants. Each participant will deliver a paper, present it during the seminar and act as discussant of another paper. For each paper there will be a presentation by the author (15 minutes), comments by a discussant (10 minutes), open debate and reply by the author (15 minutes). Presentations and discussions are expected to make a concrete contribution to the improvement of papers for future publication.

Submission of abstracts and evaluation process

Selection of participants will be based on two-page extended abstracts, including: title, author information, research question, theoretical background, methodology, and intended contribution to the field. Abstracts will be judged against the following criteria: a) originality and theoretical foundations; b) rigour and appropriateness of methodology; c) potential contribution to advancing the social science of sport in the areas of sport governance and management. The deadline for abstract submission is July 20th. Abstracts should be sent by E-mail (pdf or MS Word format) to Dino Numerato ([email protected]).

Dates to remember

August 17th: deadline for submission of extended abstracts by e-mail
September 3rd: abstract evaluation and selection of papers to be presented in the seminar October 20th: submission of full papers.
