The Department of Political Science at Aarhus University was founded in 1959 and it is the oldest of its kind in Denmark. In addition, it is also one of the biggest departments of political science in Europe with its staff of 50 full time scientific employees, 33 PhD students and 1,700 students. Add to this several other scientific employees as well as an administrative staff of 20 people.

Our department deliver research and education of the highest standards within all of the primary fields of political science; comparative politics, ionternational relations, public administration, public policy, sociology, political method as well as political theory.

International ranking

A ranking of the worlds leading departments of political science published bu the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2002 places our department as fifth best in Europe and as the 40th best department in the world. In addition we are the best department to study political sciencein Europe apart from the english-speaking countries.
