McManamey, RosaMaria

Rosa's PhD thesis "The Relationship between Social Capital and Community Newspapers: the power to empower", Faculty of Education, 2005 won the prestigious 2006 ANZRSAI (Australian New Zealand Regional Science Association International) Postgraduate Award.

She has been at the UDRH since 2005 as Honorary Research Associate, Research Assistant and Junior Research fellow.

In 2007-2008, Rosa carried out a project related to the St Marys bushfires in 2006. One of the early outcomes of this Art, Health and Wellbeing Regener8, project was the publishing of a book titled ‘Regener8: Stories and Impressions of the East Coast Bushfire 2006’. Rosa was the editor and graphic designer of the book. Her papers and conference presentations emerging since from this project have focused on community resilience and healing after natural disaster though ‘grass roots’ action and creative initiatives.
