EUNIP Conference 2006

European Network on Industrial Policy International Conference 2006

Organized by the
Department of Economics,
Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick
Limerick, 20 - 22 June 2006

About the European Network on Industrial Policy (EUNIP)

EUNIP is a multinational network of researchers in economics and management, who have a specific (research) interest in the area of economic development and public policy. Established in 1991, it has identified and explored a research agenda focusing on the development of localities, competitiveness, innovation, economic cohesion, industrial and regional policy evaluation, comparative analysis of industrial development, clusters and public policy. The 9th International Conference is a catalysing event for the Network as it is an opportunity to bring the discussion to an open forum, to invite high profile speakers, exchange opinions and engage with policy-makers and practitioners.

Call for papers

Theoretical and applied papers are invited in all areas of industrial policy, including the following:

• Drivers of industrial development: large versus small firms
• Spatial dimensions of industrial development
• Governance and the determinants of local economic development
• Policies to encourage industrial development (including: deregulation; EU harmonisation and regulation; impact of the 5th Enlargement)
• Technology and innovation policy
• The Evaluation Challenge: Lessons from regional and industrial development policies
• Comparative analysis of industrial development: EU countries versus other regions in the world
• Globalisation, transnational corporations and FDI
• Knowledge intensive services and the learning economy

Papers (in English) should be original and not submitted for publication elsewhere. A selection of papers accepted for presentation at the conference will be published in a special edition of a relevant scholarly Journal.

Submission of abstracts

An extended abstract (in English) should be submitted by 9 December 2005 to the following e-mail address: eunip2006@ul.ie. Full papers will also be accepted before this date.

The abstract should be approximately 1000 words long (excluding bibliography) and should include:

• The research question and methodology
• A clear explanation of the originality of the proposed contribution
• The expected results
• Abibliography of 15 entries maximum
The abstract should be submitted as an MS Word document, or converted to PDF format.

When submitting the abstract, please supply the following seperately. Do not include them in the abstract itself: the author name(s) and affiliation(s), contact details for one author (address, phone number, fax number and e-mail address).
These will not be made available to the reviewers of the abstract.
