Practical information and preliminary program (PROGRAM)
Contact: psekeris@fundp.ac.be. CRED, University of Namur , rue de Bruxelles 61, B-5000 Namur, Belgique.
Organized by CRED, Department of Economics, University of Namur , Belgium within the AMID Network, involving Bocconi, PSE, LSE, Stokholm and Namur and supported by the FP7 Initial Training Network of the European Union.
The school is intended for Phd students and junior faculty members. The aim is to provide young researchers with a detailed overview of the different techniques and tools available to launch a field survey. The emphasis is therefore on how to design an original data collection. The themes of the lectures involve: the design of household questionnaires; an introduction to sampling and stratification issues; the design of a natural experiment; the design of field experiments and games.
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own research projects and field surveys with leading researchers in a relaxed and open atmosphere.
Enrollment is limited to 20 Phd students, all of whom will be in residence. Selected proposals by Phd students will be presented and discussed during the day. We encourage Phd students to submit complete papers based on original data collection or detailed proposals, raising the conceptual and methodological problems that they face and that they would like to discuss. Attendants will benefit from the overall discussion. Presentations by non Phd students might also be admitted.
We will provide the accommodation and meals (half board) during the school. All participants are asked to stay for the entire duration of the summer school. While, normally, most participants have to cover their travel to the conference, a few travel grants will be made available upon requests to very promising students and projects.
The application form (FORM) should be submitted together with
• a short CV
• a reference letter
• a empirical research project involving a field survey or a completed paper (only in pdf)
All applications should be sent no later than May 1, 2009 to psekeris@fundp.ac.be . Admissions decision will be announced by May 15, 2009 . All applicants will be informed by email about the results.
