The University of Bologna, Faculty of Economics, Forlì Campus (offering an Undergraduate Degree in Social Economy and a "Laurea Magistrale", Graduate Degree, in Economics and Management of Cooperative Firms and Non-profit Organizations) joint with AICCON, is pleased to announce the European Summer School on Social Economy (ESSE), whose first edition will take place at the University Residential Centre of Bertinoro.
Teaching objectives
ESSE tries to fill an important gap in the list of courses currently offered to European students in economics and social studies.
The need to face new challenges in the markets and the opening of new markets due to the emerging needs of population, the increasing devolution of public services by the Public Administration, lead social enterprises to make a qualitative leap, acquiring tools and skills such as more complex systems of governance, a more qualified management and financing instruments tailored to their needs, without losing the main general interest purpose and fostering the involvement of their stakeholders and the broader community.
In a full-immersion week, ESSE will bring together an interdisciplinary group of students and scholars engaged in the analysis of the Third Sector and the interplay between economic activity and society, discussing the above-listed topics from different points of view, with a comparison of the European experiences.
General objectives
ESSE intends to face the following topics: social enterprise in the European context, social enterprises’ organization and management (accountability, governance, reporting), the relationship between market and institutions and the evolution of markets, the financing tools for social enterprises, social enterprise development in the globalization. A brief presentation of case studies will supplement the theory with a practical perspective.
Expected Outputs
ESSE would like to be an opportunity for students to deepen those topics in a multi-disciplinary approach, allowing them to enhance their knowledge and improve their skills in order to work in the Sector. This intent will be reached within an international perspective, and allowing them to present their study projects.
