Hotel: Hilton Hotel Bonn, Berliner Freiheit 2, 53111 Bonn
August 09 - 18, 2007
Objectives
The Sino-German Summer School on “Culture and Behavioral Methods in Management – Theory, Experiments, Practice” introduces Chinese and German doctoral students and young researchers to two ongoing and important research fields in economics and management, behavioral economics and the impact of culture on behavior. Academic experts give lectures on theories, experiments, empirical evidence and data analysis. In addition, two managers (one German, one Chinese) provide summer school participants with experience from Chinese/German intercultural business relations increasing their awareness for frictions and conflicts in practical intercultural work. The summer school initiates and promotes intercultural communication and exchange between German and Chinese researchers and practitioners.
The teaching principle is theoretical education, learning by doing and discussions. Learning by doing comprises active participation and application of the methods presented. Participants take part in experiments experiencing the experimental situation in same-culture and mixed-culture interactions. They apply the behavioral and statistical methods taught and evaluate experimental data in Chinese-German working groups. Finally, they give presentations on their results. The official language of the summer school is English.
Funding
Stipends will be provided to all participants covering their expenses for travel, accommodation and living. Stipends are funded by the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, Beijing, PR China (jointly financed by German Research Foundation (DFG) and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC))
