• Centre for Civil Society Studies
The Centre for Civil Society of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies seeks to encourage the development and effective operation of nonprofit, philanthropic, or "civil society" organizations. The Center carries out its work through a combination of research, training, and information-sharing both in the United States and throughout the world.

• Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR)
The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) was established to promote democratic debate on the most important economic and social issues that affect people's lives

• Centre for Nonprofit Management
The Centre for Nonprofit Management is based within the School of Business Studies, Trinity College, Dublin. The Centre supports and develops research, education and dialogue about the Third Sector and nonprofit organisations by creating and facilitating relationships across disciplines and across sectors.

• Centre for the Study of Global Governance
The Centre is located at the London School of Economics. The aim of the Centre was both to increase understanding and knowledge of global problems and to encourage interaction between academics and policy makers. This website includes the Global Civil Society Survey, edited by the London School of Economics and published by Oxford University Press.

• Social Watch
Social Watch is an international network informed by national citizens' groups aiming at following up the fulfillment of the internationally agreed commitments on poverty eradication and equality. These national groups report, through the national Social Watch report, on the progress - or regression - towards these commitments and goals.

• The Saguaro Seminars, developing strategies to increase community engagement
The Saguaro Seminar: Civic Engagement in America is an ongoing initiative of Professor Robert D. Putnam at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. The project focuses on expanding what we know about our levels of trust and community engagement and on developing strategies and efforts to increase this engagement.

• ATTAC (Association for the Taxation of financial Transactions for the Aid of Citizens)
International movement for democratic control of financial markets and their institutions. It promotes practical economic reforms meant to tame the devastating power of the financial markets, and to favour democratic, transparent economic structures that serve the needs of ordinary people. It looks for alternatives to the dogmatic ideology of neoliberalism.

• Center on Nonprofit and Philantropy
The Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy (CNP) conducts and disseminates research on the role and impact of nonprofit organizations and philanthropy.

• Centre for Civil Society, (CCS) at the London School of Economics
Formerly known as Centre for Voluntary Organisation (CVO), the Centre for Civil Society (CCS) is a leading, international organisation for research, analysis, debate and learning about civil society.

• Centre for Civil Society at UCLA
The Center for Civil Society is the focal point for the School of Public Policy and Social Research’s programs and activities in nonprofit leadership and management, grassroots advocacy, nongovernmental organizations, and philanthropy.

• Civil Society and Governance Programme
The Civil Society and Governance Programme is a research project funded by the Ford Foundation and based at the Institute of Development Studies (UK).

• Civil Society Organisations and Participation Programme (CSOPP), UNDP
Programme aiming to strengthen UNDP's policy and operational methods to collaborate effectively with civil society organizations, and act as a resource centre for participatory development

• Development Trusts Associations (DTA)
DTA promotes the work of community enterprises in the United Kingdom. Its aims are to strenghten civil society and improve social welfare. It conducts research, publish a quarterly information bulletin, and a range of other publications

• Institute on Governance (IOG)
NGO research organisation focusing on the promotion of effective governance, defined as the institutions, processes and traditions which determine how power is exercised, how decisions are taken and how citizens have their say

• International Society for Third-Sector Research (ISTR)
ISTR is a major international association promoting research and education in the fields of philanthropy, civil society and the nonprofit sector

• Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations
The Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations is located at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Founded in 1984, the Mandel Center offers the nation’s most fully developed program in nonprofit management

• Transparency International
Transparency International (TI) is a non governmental organization that builds national, regional and global coalitions, embracing the state, civil society and the private sector, in order to fight domestic and international corruption. TI elaborates the Corruption Index, sometimes used as a proxy for social capital at a macro level
