Welcome by Wim van de Donk (chairman of the WRR).
General round: everyone is kindly requested to introduce her/himself and shortly outline their research interests and the main current issues on religion & civil society in their country or region (max. 10 minutes each).

- Religion & civil society in post-communist countries – introduced by Ina Merdjanova

We aim to generate interesting research questions and to explore the possibilities for further collaborative work. Three introductions to start with:
- Religion & civil society in an international comparative perspective: The European Value Study – introduced by Loek Halman
- Involvement in vested religious institutions and (other) civic participation – introduced by Peter Lüchau
- In the margins? The civic impact of orthodox Protestantism and new spirituality – introduced by Joep de Hart
