Workshop

5th Workshop for Italian PhD Students in Economics

May 22-23, 2008 – University of Salerno, Italy

Presentation

The Department of Economics and Statistics, University of Salerno, and the Center for Studies in Economics and Finance are organizing the 5th Workshop for Italian Students in Economics, to be held in Salerno, Italy, on May 22-23, 2008.
Italian scholars in economics who have just completed their PhD dissertation or will have it finished by the next academic year are invited to submit one of their papers for consideration for the workshop. Original theoretical and empirical contributions will be considered for selection. The aim of the workshop is to foster the interaction between young and senior researchers, and to provide young scholars with a useful opportunity to obtain feedback from experts in their field (see the links to the previous workshops at http://www.csef.it).
Four papers by young researchers will be selected for presentation. Each paper will be discussed by a senior researcher, who will also present one of his/her own recent contributions. Each presentation will last 1 hour, and will be followed by a 30-minute discussion.

The senior economists who have agreed to participate are:
Marco Battaglini (Princeton University)
Bruno Jullien (Toulouse School of Economics)
Lucrezia Reichlin (European Central Bank)
Arthur van Soest (Tilburg University)

PDF papers must be electronically submitted by February 29, 2008 to the address csef@unisa.it,
specifying “WISE” in the subject of the message. Notice of acceptance will be given by March 31, 2008. Accommodation and travel expenses (economy fare) will be reimbursed to all invited speakers.
The organizing committee consists of Adalgiso Amendola, Dimitris Christelis and Giovanni Immordino.
