Ben Gurion University, Department of Economics

The Department of Economics, with 25 full-time faculty members actively engaged in research, teaches around 1000 students in programs leading to BA, MA and PhD degrees in economics. Undergraduate studies in economics can be combined with programs in business administration, accounting, and computer science as well as with other fields in the social sciences and humanities. Curricula are centered on core sequences in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, which serve as a basis for a wide selection of courses in specific areas, including public economics, industrial organization, labor economics, game theory, experimental economics, and financial economics. The Master's program offers two tracks: a research track that often leads to PhD studies, and a terminal degree leading to a professional career in the public or private sector. The PhD program provides good preparation for a research or teaching career. The Department has a high level of research output, and faculty members take an active part in international research networks, policy initiatives, and university administration.
