National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Climate

Since 2001, 175 scientists have been working for the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Climate, a gamut of researchers including atmospheric physicists, historians, biologists and economists. Their common goal is to better understand climate systems and hence the climate changes along with their consequences on ecological systems and society. In order to predict the climate of the future one must first examine the past. Only then can one of the most pressing questions of climate research be answered: what portion of global warming can be attributed to human activities? Scientifically speaking, there is no disputing the fact that the climate is changing. The NCCR Climate provides answers to the government and society in order to face the changes and it shows, for example, how the economy can adapt to these new realities.
